LANGLEY is a lttle seaside village about a mile away from the Eagles Nest Inn bed & Breakfast. Established in the early nineteen hundreds Langley retains much of its historical charm and is a bit reminescent of Norman Rockwell and Mayberry. The quaint streets are dotted with galleries, fashion boutiques, book and curio shops, coffee houses and several fine restaurants serving fine local cusine. A Choclatier, wine merchants, bakeries, brewing co, glass blowing and specialty shops round out the retail experience of this small town. Our Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, (WICA) is a performing arts center that affords locals and tourists alike fine arts presentations in the forums of dance, vocal, instrumental, and theater. The Clyde is a turn of the century movie theater updated to serve the needs of todays movie goers.
Stroll Langley's seawall park watch for gray whales off shore late March through May when they stop off to feed on their migration north to Alaska. There is a whale bell in town that is rung when merchants view whales in the passage. Langley's small boat Marina is a wonderful place to boat watch, take in the fishermans return or indulge a small picnic in Phil Simon Park. You'll catch eagle's soaring over Saratoga Passage and heron's fishing for dinner on the tide at shores edge.
"Winter and Spring" seasons: the quieter times of the year are equally beautiful, and reservations and your favorite rooms are easier to come by. BUT Langley will delight you in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall and there is always plenty going on in our little Village by the Sea to delight your soul.
