Eagles Nest Inn, Whidbey Island

[ Things To Do ]
The gateway to Whidbey Island is the Mukilteo Ferry landing, just thirty minutes north of Seattle on Interstate Highway 5. A fifteen-minute ferry ride, and you're here on this enchanted, seahorse-shaped island. Whidbey Island is a treasure trove of driftwood-strewn beaches, windswept bluffs, green pastures, and the wonderful little seaside villages of Langley and Coupeville. If you would like a map of Whidbey Island click here.

There is beautiful and rugged Deception Pass Park and six additional parks on Whidbey Island and three county parks with public beach access. The outdoor-minded can golf, kayak, hike, mountain bike, fish, clam, and SCUBA dive. Miles of scenic backroads are perfect for cycling and running. There are plenty of deserted beaches on which to picnic or walk and take in some fresh sea air.

Langley, a little hamlet by the sea about a mile and a half away from the Eagles Nest Inn bed & Breakfast, is a true artists' haven. The quaint streets are dotted with upscale galleries, antique and curio shops, and several fine restaurants. Our Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, (WICA) is a performing arts center that affords locals and tourists alike fine arts presentations in the forums of dance, vocal, instrumental, and theater. Stroll Langleys seawall park, boat watch at the Langley marina, or, in April, watch for gray whales when they stop off to feed on their migration north to Alaska. You'll catch a glimpse of an eagle, too, soaring over the Passage.

Whidbey Island exceeds all weather expectations, and with an annual rainfall of half that of Seattle, it is the perfect spot for a few days or a weekend anytime
of the year. Check
local weather here
. Don't forget the "Winter and Spring" seasons: the quieter times of the year are equally beautiful, and Langley will delight you in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. And
with fewer visitors, reservations are easier to come by.
